Waste Management of San Diego Announces Three New Hires, One Promotion

EL CAJON/SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5, 2007 - Waste Management of San Diego has announced the following new hires:

Charissa McAfee is in the newly created position of Manager of Customer Experience for the San Diego/Orange County Market Area. In this role, McAfee works to ensure that employees are engaged in providing exceptional service to the company’s customers. She also manages Waste Management’s Service Machine program, which consists of processes and standards that help the company’s local operations deliver a high level of service to its customers. In addition, McAfee performs community and municipal relations activities for the company in San Diego County.

Previously, she was the Executive Director of MADD San Diego County. She is an active volunteer and has served on numerous boards, including the North Coastal Prevention Coalition and the San Diego County Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board. McAfee is a graduate of Covenant College at Lookout Mountain, Ga., with a degree in sociology, and holds an MBA from California State University San Marcos.

Kristine Pelley has re-joined Waste Management of San Diego as the new Temporary Roll-off Sales Representative (TRR) for the Central San Diego region. As the TRR, Pelley sells and maintains services to large general contractors, such as roll-off waste or recycling containers and temporary construction bins. She manages and provides recommendations for service during the typically long, multi-million dollar construction projects, including numerous high-rise projects currently under development in the downtown region.

She began working for Waste Management in 1999 in customer service and sales support, and in 2000 was promoted to TRR for San Diego County. During her tenure in this role over the next six years, she was awarded a new Mustang GT for a nationwide sales contest in which she achieved more than 320 percent of her sales quota.

Pelley spent the last six months of 2006 as a stay-at-home mother to her new son, and has now re-joined the San Diego sales team as the new TRR for Central San Diego.

April Van Buskirk has been hired by Waste Management of San Diego in the Temporary Roll-off Representative-South County Construction sales position. In this role, Van Buskirk sells services to small and large construction companies in the South County area of San Diego, establishing and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction based on her eight years of experience working in a variety of capacities for the company.

Van Buskirk joined Waste Management in 1998, working in the company’s customer service center in Orange County. She served as manager of the customer service department before transferring to the company’s Los Angeles operations, to serve as a manager in the sales department’s Inbound Call Center.

In addition, the company announced the following promotion:

Kaylyn Littelman has been promoted to Account Manager for Waste Management of San Diego. She is responsible for reducing revenue loss and account cancellations while establishing and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Littelman has worked for Waste Management for seven years, performing various job duties including Customer Service Manager and, most recently, Inside Account Manager for the sales team.

Prior to working at Waste Management, she worked in the customer service field for several years.
